Winter is, in our humble opinion, by far the best time of year to climb the Ben.  There are comparatively few people around, the route is more challenging (the track can completely disappear on the upper reaches) the scenery is spectacular and you get a true impression of what the Scottish mountains are all about.

You don’t need any prior experience, just copious amounts of enthusiasm  and an ability to rise to a challenge.  You’ll obviously need some warm clothing, which we will advise you on, and some crampons and an ice axe, which we can supply.

Depending on conditions, winter ascents can be physically challenging, so a moderate level of fitness is desirable.
